EV Real-World Range Calculator
Estimate practical range rather than relying on a single certified number. Adjust the result for city or highway driving, air-conditioning, payload, temperature, and a trip reserve.
Certified range versus estimated real-world range
Certified range is a test-cycle value. The estimated real-world range applies transparent adjustment factors for the conditions entered here and is not a manufacturer guarantee.
How the calculation works
Estimated range = battery capacity × base efficiency × driving-type factor × air-conditioning factor × payload factor × temperature factor. Reserve range removes the selected reserve percentage.
What the estimate includes and excludes
It includes the inputs above and excludes battery degradation, traffic variability, wind, tyre pressure, terrain, and accessory loads not entered by the user.
Example calculation
A 40 kWh battery at 7 km/kWh with mixed driving, 10% air-conditioning adjustment, 5% load, and 10% reserve produces a planning estimate below its certified range.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a battery diagnostic?
No. It is a planning estimate. Use a qualified diagnostic report for battery health.
Why is certified range higher?
Certified tests use controlled conditions that may not match traffic, temperature, speed, payload, or HVAC use.
